To make it easier to
design a complex system, it is normally broken down into several sub
systems. The functionality of these subsystems should match the
specifications. At this point, the relationship between different sub
systems and with the top level system is also defined. This is known
as design partitioning.
The design
partitioning can be done based on:
- Functionality
- Timing criticality
- Based on area
- Tool limitations
- Reusability
